Working Out The Kinks

I completely scrapped my cover design of my cookbook! I was worried about copyright problems and I did not like that I was trying to take the quick route by just taking a picture off the internet to just get my cookbook started. The picture was nice and farm style like, but it was not my work. It all just kept weighing on my mind and then I thought I may as well change it! I was back to square one on trying to figure out the look of my cookbook. I went back to other cookbooks I have laying around my house to try to find some inspiration. I liked the ideas of having pictures of kitchen utensils, equipment, and storage bins as well as rows of shelves containing all of the ingredients. On some cookbooks I also saw images of women on the cover preparing meals wearing their aprons to keep their clothing clean. I liked the idea of having a drawing of a lady on the front of my cookbook, especially because this cookbook is being dedicated to some very hardworking and special women in my ...

Getting Started

In making my cookbook I have looked to several cookbooks and they have helped to give me some inspiration in my design. There are just so many different things one can do, especially to suit one's own style! I have been indecisive in how I want my cookbook to look, but I have finally created a cover design and format I like. Sometimes the recipe would start trailing onto the next page, but I wanted it all to stay on one page. I find it annoying when I'm using a cookbook and the whole recipe is not on one page right in front of me. So I had thought about changing the font size to make it smaller to make it all fit, but then it was all too small. I ended up just shoving the recipes that were...

Introducing My Genius Hour Project

Hello! My name is Saydie Potter and currently I am a Freshman enrolled at Moberly Area Community College. In the fall I will be transferring full time to Truman State University, majoring in Psychology and am also pre-education either in elementary or special education. I enjoy spending time with my loving family, raising sheep and cattle on our family farm, being outdoors with my Border Collie Jake, reading, cooking, baking, and more. I also like to volunteer and help out in my community.  I am enrolled in the Composition II class and we have been given the freedom to chose a project we want to pursue. My class and I decided to call this project our "Genius Hour." I have not had the opportunity in a class to have such free reign and do something I have not had the time to do. I am very excited about this project and can't wait to see what the outcome is. At first with this project I wasn't for sure about what to chose, but the brainstorming activities aided m...
