All About the Food!
My project is coming along great! I am beginning to catch back
up and am back on track with my tentative schedule. I just had to buckle down
more, stray away from the books I love to read as well as the T.V. and use my
time much more wisely.
While typing up the recipes I thought a lot about the recipes
and what foods or ingredients as I should say, that are used to make these
meals. As I have talked about in my proposal and previous blogs, it’s important
to see what foods one is putting in their body. So, it all comes down to the
food. How was it handled before it got to your plate? Was a bunch of pesticides
or chemicals used to keep the bugs away? What preservatives were added to make
it keep longer without spoiling? These are all good questions when it comes to
controlling what is being put in your body by the meals one is consuming.
A great way to control this is to grow one’s own food if they
have the space or materials. I am raised in a farming family, so we have our
own garden and harvest a lot of our own meat. We have had the opportunity to
see our food grow right before our eyes and be the ones who are handling our
food. Our food is more natural and not shot up with a bunch of chemicals that
are not beneficial for our bodies.
To me the greatest quality of gardening is getting to see all
of the hard work pay off in the end with a beautiful garden that will feed my
family. We get to eat fresh vegetables straight from the garden to our table!
To me that is so neat! We can work hard, sweating under the sun to keep the pesky
weeds from smothering the plants that we are to harvest. This is the same for
the meat that my family consumes. We work hard caring for our animals and raising
them properly. We get to take care of our food, grow it up, and be the people
who handle the food that will be on our dinner table.
When it comes to cooking, it’s all about the food. So be
choosey about what one is putting in their body! Take the extra time to read
the ingredients and find the best quality food that fits one’s budget because in
the end it will be well worth it. Also, I encourage everyone to try to garden and
allow one to handle their own food and have the opportunity to grow their food.
